Ode To Creepy Friendships

I was going to call this post "Why My Family Is Convinced I'm In Love With My Best Friend," but that was kind of a mouthful.

So anywho, the other day, as I was leaving work, I was gettin' down to some J Dash and Flo Rida, when I realized I was super happy and super excited for the first time in a while.

Everything about the song sounded right and the sun was shining and I was smiling and dancing (and almost crashing my car).

EVERYTHING IS SO BEAUTIFUL, I thought to myself.

And then I realized... I was so joyous because not only was I going to see one of my best friends but I was going to see two of them.  At the same time.

I have never been and will never be as happy to see any other fools as I am to see these two crazy bitches:

Meet Kirsten & Casey

Together, Kirsey:
As a matter of fact, they are scissoring on my old Buick Century...
I get excited when we go out to dinner, I feel sheer glee when we go out for drinks and there is no one I'd rather wake up next to...

Communication is the Key... to Literally Everything

At 5:27 this morning my alarm went off to wake up for work.  At 5:28 this morning my friend called me because she was having a panic attack.

As we talked her way out of it, we hit on all the hot topics of stressed out twentysomething year old's:  school, work, balancing social life with the workload and, most famously, careers and that whole what-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life question that plagues us all.

Ah, that fateful Spring day last May...
Though I graduated almost a year ago, (holy shit!) the stress of impending graduation is all too vivid in my memory.  It's like a mental third degree burn; the pain may be gone, but the scarring remains behind as a reminder of it all.

I could feel Eris* hitting the wall I remembered running into so many times a few months before graduation.  It's horrifying.  The small comfort I offered her was that I used to do the same thing, twice a week for about five months before I graduated.  That's the bad news.  The good news is that while she's going to face some of the lowest lows, she's also going to reach some of the highest highs over the next few months.  It's the ultimate roller coaster ride.

Passive Aggressive America

DISCLAIMER: POLITICS ARE REFERENCED BUT UNIMPORTANT TO THE OVERALL MESSAGE OF THIS POST. THEY ALSO DO NOT REFLECT THE BELIEFS OF ANYONE IN PARTICULAR INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MYSELF.

What does that say?

Hold on, let me tailgate them a little bit more...

Aaaaand now my day is ruined.

It happens to all of us and recently it's been happening more and more... because overpopulation is real and the more people you allow in this world the higher number of crazy motherfuckers you get.

Has anyone else noticed that so many people don't have an opinion all year long on issues like oh, I don't know war, famine, hunger, genocide but as soon as someone thinks its a good idea to ban assault weapons (which also kill people FYI) and suddenly they just can't shut up?

Well, it's recently come to my attention that we have created the perfect outlet for these types of people:
Bumper stickers.

Why I Like Girls

No, family, not in the I'm-coming-out-of-the-closet kind of way... in the I-like-Lena-Dunham's-show kind of way. (Every time I call/text/hang out with my best friend, my family's all like:)

What It's Like To Be A Twentysomething, As Told By "Mean Girls," "Bridesmaids," And "Girls"

I've been watching "Girls" since it premiered last year on HBO.  It was exactly what I expected it to be; it was witty, sarcastic, awkward and a little depressing.  I thought Lena Dunham hit the nail on the head most of the time and the rest of the time it seemed like she was just having fun.  All in all, I liked it.

But the start of the new, very different season and a big W at the Academy Awards brought about quite the slew of mixed reviews.  There was James Franco's "A Dude's Take On Girls," Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's "Girls Just Want to Have (White) Fun," and a few others I've stumbled upon.  Though both do seem to give props to Dunham for her success, they then both go on to heavily criticize the characters and world she portrays in her show.

(I know what you're thinking, by the way...When did either of these two become critics, or more importantly, writers?)

Either way, I'm here to defend Girls.
